If there are any subscribers to
LOADSTAR that live in the HAGERSTOWN
area (area code 301) I'd be happy to
hear from them. I've got a MODEM/300
and would like to hear from those in
my area. If you are interested,
call me, or drop me a letter and we'll
work out an arrangement. My address
is:

I have purchased several programs
that I don't trust and therefore
don't use. One is 'The Home
Accountant' by Continental Software.
I spent many days only to find out
a new version works and my $79
version does not work. I even talked
a friend into buying a copy almost
a year later and he still got the
old version. He sent to the company
and they fixed his copy. I got a
good copy from him, but I have not
spent the time needed to get back
into it.

I have spent days and weeks with
Practifile. The first copy I bought
screwed up the program on the disk.
I bought a second copy which I used
to fix the first disk. Then I gave an
original set to my friend. The
program has a habit of leaving a file
open and showing an error when I am
trying to save something on it. This
happened three times when I had about
one hundred address files. I have
decided to use that 'Little Black
Disk' of yours. It seems to be
working fine.

I asked for a back-up of Multiplan
for $10. They said for me to send
proof of purchase and sent my money
back to me. So I made my own copy
that works fine

I purchased "The Clone Machine",
"Mr. Tester", and "Screen Dump" from
Micro-W Distributing Inc. Three times
I have ordered the instructions to
adjust the 1541 disk drive from them.
They said they only make copies every
so often. That has been since about
the first of May.

The author of the Copier Review was
mistaken when he stated you could
only make one copy of commercial
software; you can make up to five
copies for archival purposes only
(!!DON'T PIRATE SOFTWARE!!) according
to the copyright laws of the U.S..
I have a word processor that not
much is heard of...FONTMASTER by
Xetec. I use it with my EPSON MX-80
interfaced with either Cardco +G or
G-Wiz. This system allows the use of
16 different fonts (8 at a time) and
you can change fonts as many times
as you like, even in the middle of a
word!
I recently bought a MACH-5 disk
speedup cartridge and it has many
features that FASTLOAD doesn't have
like defeating that annoying (and
potentially misaligning) disk drive
rattle, a two-keystroke command for
opening a printer file with a CMD
and a two-keystroke command for
closing a printer file and lots more.
But it doesn't have what FASTLOAD
does like copy, format etc. It comes
with both a disk filing program and a
BASIC 4 conversion on disk. The BASIC
4 conversion frees up an additional
4K of RAM.
I use both FASTLOAD and MACH-5 and
have them both plugged in to my five-
slot expansion port. I could not
access the feedback maker from the
LOADSTAR environment. I was able to
get to it by listing the directory of
side two and loading it directly.

I'm a handicapped person, and would
like to use my Com64 and modem to get
in touch with other people in my
area. Can you help?

P.S. I've tried one company that
advertised in Commodore magazine, but
they specialize in workshops. Since I
am not mobile, I could not use their
services.
